We do also cater for families with children who are seven years younger but it should be noted that the safari experience tends to be shorter, and we recommend luxury and mid-range accommodations for this age group.

  • Gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation. Gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation are one of the best safari activities for families on family safaris in Uganda. In Uganda gorilla trekking takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable National park and Mgahinga Gorilla National park. Gorilla habituation takes place on in Rushaga, the southern sector of the Bwindi Park. Visitors to the park trek habituated mountain gorillas with professional and armed ranger guides. Family members coming for gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation must be 15 years and above as per guidelines from Uganda Wildlife Authority

 

  • Chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation Chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation are perfect for families with children who are 15 years and above. Kibale National park is the best place to see habituated chimpanzees in the wild. The treks take place in the morning and in the after and habituation takes a full day or until a client decides they want to go back to the lodge. Seeing the chimpanzee- man’s closest cousin in the wild is so fascinating. You will see how chimpanzees live and communicate with each other

 

  • Bird watching. Uganda is home to about 1000 bird species making it a great bird watching destination. Families that love bird watching together can include a bird watching safari to their itinerary. All the national parks are home to different bird species which can be seen with our bird watching guides. Best time for family safaris in Uganda

Families interested in family safaris in Uganda can travel to the country any time of the year since the country has got a tropical climate. The dry months are June-October and December to February and the wet or green months are March-May and November. During the green months, the roads are wet and slippery but we do not use 4 x 4 WD safari vehicles.
