· Guided bush walk
· Boat trip
· Game drive
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo NP – Boat safari
At 6.30am, you will start your journey to Lake Mburo National Park which is one of Uganda’s smallest parks, but certainly not to be underestimated. It is the only Ugandan national park (besides Kidepo Valley National Park) which is home to zebra, eland and impala, as well as an abundance of other wildlife. The lake itself is full with hippos and crocodiles.
You will arrive into the park, straight for the boat safari. During the boat safari you may spot Hippos, crocodiles and there are many birds that you can see such as the African fin foot, black headed weaver birds, different types of kingfishers and the African Fish Eagle.
After the boat safari, you will check into the lodge, have lunch and later go for a game drive where you will see Zebras, Giraffes, Eland and Topi Antelopes, Warthogs, Bush Pigs, Buffaloes and so much more
You will stay just outside the park boundaries, but it will feel like being in the middle of the park. From your veranda and restaurant you have a great view over the park and its wildlife. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight
Journey Time: 4 hours
Accommodation: Mihingo Lodge (High-end)
Meal plan: Lunch and dinner
Mihingo Lodge is absolutely one of the most beautiful lodges in Uganda.
Each luxury tented room is nestled on a private piece of the lodge’s property, enabling guests to enjoy the tranquil environment in complete seclusion. Placed in varied settings, some rooms are situated in a forest, some with a lake view, and some on rocky outcrops.
The main dining area is a large thatched structure built of rocks, the wood of dead weathered olive trees found on the land, and native grasses. Below the dining area, an infinity swimming pool stretches out from the rocks and seems to disappear into the vast landscape beyond. From the dining and pool area, guests can enjoy the view of a westward oriented valley and its stunning evening sunsets over Lake Mburo National Park.
Day 2: Guided bush walk – Kampala
Today after breakfast, you will go for a guided bush walk. Lake Mburo National Park is one of two parks in Uganda where it is permitted to go for a bush walk with an experienced ranger. This opportunity should not be missed.
From footprints and animal droppings the ranger will tell you which animal has left it and how long ago. It is exciting to approach the wildlife at such close range.
Option: Instead of going for the bush walk, you can relax at your lodge or make a horseback riding safari in the park (US$ 70 p.p. for 2 hours).
After your morning activity, you will transfer back to Kampala with en route stopover at the Equator for lunch, photos and souvenir shopping.
You will also stop at the royal drum makers where the tradition of Drum Making for the Kabaka has been going on for 300 years plus.
You will arrive in Kampala during in the evening and return you to your hotel.
