Kyaninga Lodge Cottages
The eight cottages at Kyaninga lodge offer complete privacy and there is a wooden walk way that connects to the main lodge area. Each cottage is very spacious and clean and has an indoor seating area and a private terrace. From here, you can enjoy your tea or coffee with stunning views of the Crate Lake and Mountain Rwenzori. The cottages are wooden, comfortable and have a modern bathroom that has a free standing bathtub and a walk in shower.
The cottage rooms have three power points so you can charge your phones and cameras all the time. And each cottage room has an umbrella that one can use on those rainy days from the room to the main area
Kyaninga Main Lodge area:
Kyaninga lodge has a welcoming lounge area surrounded by an open fire place which is lit in the evenings. The main area has a dining area too where guests enjoy the delicious dinner followed by a glass of fine wine by the fire.
Meals in the dinning area are a combination of European and Uganda dishes fresh from the lodge’s garden or local markets.
There is Wi-Fi in the main lodge that works so well.
Kyaninga lodge has a swimming pool, a lawn tennis, a badminton, croquet and Boulez. Guests can borrow tennis balls and rackets from the lodge. Guests can also swim from the Crater Lake just below the lodge.
Activities in and around the lodge
Chimpanzee Tracking Safari – Kibale National Park
The most popular activity for guests who stay at Kyaninga Lodge is chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National park. The star of Kibale is the chimpanzee and guests will come face to face with it but the forest is also home to 13 other primate species. Kibale forest is the best place in the world to see Chimpanzees in the wild and many documentaries have been made by many film makers. Kyaninga Lodge is located less than an hour to the park, making it perfect for guests who want to go for chimpanzee tracking or habitation. The cost of a chimpanzee trekking permit is 150 Us dollars and 220 US dollars for habituation
Kyaninga crater walk: Guests can go for a guided 2 hour Crater Lake Walk on the crater rim below the lodge. The walk offers beautiful sceneries offering great photograph opportunities. It takes you through community farms and through the forest inside the crater where you expect to see some monkeys and a chance to visit a bat cave. The crater walk cost is included in the hotel fee. You may also explore other crater lakes around the area that include Ndali and Kasenda.
Bird Watching at Kynainga Lodge
Guests interested in bird watching can go for a guided bird watching walk with one of the lodge staff who takes you around the lodge grounds spotting out birds around the area. Early mornings are the best and the sight of the mist over Kyaninga crater Crater Lake is breath taking. Birds to look out for include the African Fish Eagle, Red billed Fire Finch, Fan Tailed Widow bird,copper sunbird, Baglafect weaver, Tawny flanked Prinia and the Black crowned Tchagra. Your guide will also explain the medicinal uses of Omunyara tree and the five fingered leaf plant found only in this area.

Directions to Kyaninga Lodge
Turn north at Mpanga Bridge, about 2 Kms outside Fort Portal town on the Kampala Road (signposted). Follow the road for 1.8 Kms and turn left at the Kyaninga Lodge signpost. Follow the road for another 6 Kms until you reach the lodge.
From Fort Portal town to Kyaninga Lodge should take 15-20 minutes.
