The 3 Days chimpanzee tracking tour Kibale adventure is for those who have little time but are primate enthusiastic. The tracking adventure will be in Kibale Forest National park, the primate capital of the world

It will take you the beautiful landscapes through lush forests and tea plantation. You will combine chimpanzee tracking with a luxury lodge, one of the most beautiful lodges in Uganda and Fort Portal

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala – Head to Kibale National Park

Your guide will come at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, brief you about your upcoming advenuture and what to expect. He will transfer you to Kibale National park in Uganda.

Kibale National park is a tropical rainforest forest over 700 sq km at an altitude of 3000-4500 ft. The forest runs into Queen Elizabeth National park a long a 180 km wildlife corridor.

The star of the forest is the Chimpanzee which shares 98.7% DNA with man, making it man’s closest cousin. The forest has the highest concentration of primates in Africa with about 13 primate species that include the grey cheeked mangabey. It is also home to about 325 bird species, butterflies, months and about 250 tree species

You will get to the lodge in time of lunch. You will check in and either decide to relax at the lodge, taking in the beautiful views of Kyaninga crater lake and the back drop of the mountains of the moon. But you can also decide to go for optional activities that include a crater nature walk.

Kyaninga Lodge is the true meaning of luxury. It is located between Fort Portal and Kibale Forest National park, taking about an hour from the lodge to the park offices.

The lodge has stunning views of crater lakes and mountains of the moon. It has 8 en suite, spacious and clean cottages that smell luxury and cater for single and double bed that have very smooth and soft beddings

The lodge has a restaurant deck that offers excellent food. The bar area is perfect for winding down after the chimpanzee trek or habituation.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking – Afternoon relaxation at the lodge

Today is the day you will meet the chimpanzees in Kibale rain forest. After early breakfast, your guide will take you to the park head quarters. They will brief you about the trek. The tracking experts will then take you to the forest searching for these fascinating primates.

You will learn about the lives of the chimpanzees, observe how they play, fight and community and how close they are to man. The chimpanzees you will track are habituated; they will not get intimidated by your presence.

You will be with them for only one hour, you will then return to lodge and relax the rest of the day.

Optional activities

Chimpanzee Habituation:
Instead of going for the regular chimpanzee trek, one can go for chimpanzee habituation. A new chimpanzee family is being habituated for future chimpanzee trek.

You will be with experts from Uganda Wildlife Authority and other primate scientists. Chimpanzee tracking takes the whole day and you will only top up 70 us dollars.

Day 3: Bigodi wetland sanctuary – Transfer back

Today in the morning, you will go for a guided nature walk in the Bigodi wetland sanctuary, a great nature walk which supports the community. The walk is eco friendly, and you will be able to see different monkey species, butterflies, plant and tree species and a good number of birds, the highlight being the great blue Turaco. The walk normally lasts for 2 hours.

You will then be transferred back to Kampala or Entebbe

Accommodation for tonight is not inclusive. If you wish to stay one or more nights in Kampala or Entebbe, just let us know.

If you also wish to depart tonight from Entebbe international Airport, make sure your flight leaves at 10 pm or later.

Chimpanzee tracking and habituation permits can not be reserved. They will only be booked after down payment and this too will depend on availability

Accommodation will not be reserved before booking deposit is made. This too will depend on availability. In case the suggested accommodation is not available, we may book another lodge with the same standard after consulting with you.
