The conservation are is located about 180km west of Arusha within the crater highlands of Tanzania. The key attraction in the area is the Ngorongoro crater which is the largest timeworn caldera in the world having a 265 square kilometer bowl. The conservation area is a home to over 25000 large mammals including rhinos, gazelles, wild beast, zebras, lions, elephants, wild dogs, elands, hippos, black rhino and many more with different bird species such as ostriches, thousands of flamingos around lake Magadi , saddle billed stork and many more.
Olduvai George located within the Ngorongoro conservation area is famous. Since it’s where the remains of the first human were found in 1911 also referred to as the cradle of mankind. These fossils were found by a Germany professor and since then it is believed that the first humans lived at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania.
It is located in western iringa and covers approximately 13000 square kilometers. The park derives its name from river ruaha which is a permanent water body that also supplies electricity in Tanzania. The park has its pride in having large prides of lions, wild dogs and elephants plus other mammals like cheetahs, impala, zebras, jackals and many more.
it is suited about 130 km west of Arusha on a rift valley ridge bordered by an escarpment covering 325 square kilometers. This is the best birding spot due to the availabity of Lake Manyara an alkaline lake which attracts over 300 migratory bird species. Resident birds are flamingoes and mammals we have hippos, elephants, wildebeest, the rare tree climbing lions, baboon and many more. This is a cultural town with old Arabian homes across the narrow streets built mostly during the 19th century. When Tanzania was still the top Swahili trading town around Indian Ocean. These houses have been kept in their original format and some of them have been made museums. Structures to be seen while walking around the stone town include old dispensaries. Old fort which is the oldest stone building, forodhani garden, hamamni Persian baths and many more.
The reserve is located in southern Tanzania and it covers 54600 square kilometers. Which is almost 5% of the country covered by forests, steep cliffs, grassland, hills and rivers. Mammals that are recorded in the reserve include buffaloes, kudu, spotted hyena, waterbuck, warthog, elephants and many more with over 350 bird species. It is the largest water catchment with two rivers namely rufiji and rhuha.
For bird lovers Tanzania is a spot for you with a variety of bird species, birding is mostly done during the wet season from November to April. Because during this time even the migratory birds are available. Bird species to spot include fly catchers, cormorants, wood peckers, kingfishers, lapwings, hornbills, wagtails, African barbets, Hamerkop, turacos and many more making a birding safari worth it.
Tree top walks are famously done in Lake Manyara national park, there is a bridge of about 18 meters. A walk will enable you explore the forested area of the park as you glimpse at some birds as well as mammals.
