Lake Mutanda Island Trip and other activities

Lake Mutanda is a beautiful lake that located just north of Kisoro and stretches not far south of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park. It is a relaxing place after your gorilla tracking trip and offers beautiful views of the misty virunga volcanoes. It is also a great alternative for Lake Bunyonyo.

There are some activities available at this stunning lake which can be explored by canoe to some of the islands, swimming since it has no hippos, crocodiles and is bilhazia free and of course bird watching.

Mukozi Village and Lake Trip
Travellers can use a canoe is 3-4 hours and 2 hours on a motorized canoe boat. It takes you to the burial place of Kyangushu and the beautiful village of Mukozi. You are welcomes by children in a nursery school, visit a craft marker and traditional healer. You will finish the trip with a drink at the local bar.

Mutanda Island Trip
Mutanda Island is very scenic and on a clear day it offers views of Bunagana (Congo border), Lake Mulehe and Bwindi National Park. On a Sunday join about 70 villagers at their church. It is about 3-4 hours on a canoe non-motorized boat and 2 hours on a motor boat

There are many other hikes and nature trails found here that are simply most enjoyable and you can easily stay here for a week and not explore it all.

At Mgahinga, visitors can also go for the Batwa Trail and learn about the ways of the Batwa people and their secret cave, hiking the three Volcano Mountains, golden monkey tracking and bird watching.
