4 Days Kidepo Wildlife Safari Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Kidepo, with a lunch break in Kitgum

Today, your driver guide will pick you from your hotel at 6am and transfer you to Kidepo Valley National Park, a park that offers one of the best wilderness experience.

You will stopover in Gulu to refill fuel and then proceed to Kitgum for lunch. After lunch you will proceed to the park, arriving at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Sunrise and night game drive

Today, you will have early breakfast and then proceed for sunrise game drive in Kidepo Valley National Park. The park is home to big numbers of animals including the biggest buffalo herd of up to 3000 a herd. Watch out for other animals that include big numbers of elephants, giraffes, zebras, different types of antelopes, prides of lions and it is the only national park with cheetahs in Uganda. The park is not only endowed with great numbers of animals but with a beautiful stunning scenery and colourful sunrises and sunsets.

In the evening after early dinner, you will go back for a night game drive. With a ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority, you will head out into the park in the night to experience the nocturnal life of lions, porcupine, elephants, among others. You will return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 3: Morning Walking Safari and visit a cultural village in the afternoon

Today after early breakfast, you will go for a guided walking safari starting from Apoka Bandas. The walk starts at 7.00am and is guided by an experienced and knowledgeable ranger guide. You will spot animals on walk instead of being in a car. You will look out for different animals, and the guide will help identify animal hove prints and poo. In Uganda, walking safaris only take place in Lake Mburo National Park and Kidepo Valley National park. The walk takes about 3-4 hours.

You will then return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will take a short walk to one of the villages around the park. You will have an opportunity to interact with the local people and buy local crafts made by the same people.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala

Today you will wake up early, have early breakfast and at 6am you will leave for Kampala with lunch stopover in Gulu town. This is the end of the wilderness experience.

Accommodation for tonight is not inclusive in the program. If you wish to depart tonight from Entebbe Airport, make sure your flight is at 10 pm or later. If you want us to book one (or more) nights in Kampala and/or Entebbe, please let us know.

Our standard offering for mid-range tours is a 4wd minibus with pop-up roof for easy safari viewing. All passengers will have a dedicated window seat. Your professional and courteous driver/guide will be at your disposal for questions or translations.
